Historically we see that there have been significant changes in the reallocation of disposable income. This shift in the way people spend their time, money and energy are driven by socio-economic developments. The cause of these developments is the application of newly introduced General Purpose Technologies (GPTs) such as means of production, transportation and communication into daily life. 

ICT is the most important GPT of our time. Compared to previous GPTs – such as railways or cars - ICT is unique. Older GPTs were a new form of transportation, communication OR production. However, the internet is inherently three dimensional and is a new form of transportation, communication AND production.

The TMT sector is well positioned to profit from the impact of both the internet and the application of ICT. Not only because the TMT industries are an inseparable part of these GPTs, but also because we believe that consumers will allocate a higher part of their real disposable income to TMT related products and services.
